Anyone know the best ways for how to fix a bad back?
I’ve had a back problem for many years. While I was able to get by before, I have noticed a couple of things now. It is giving me more trouble, now that I am older. The other thing I’ve noticed is that it takes me longer to recover.
To make it clear, in the past, occasionally, my back would have a bad day. It would take me a couple of days before I got back to ‘normal’. Now, it takes me two or three weeks. Anyone know how to fix a bad back?MulanMemberTopics: 0
Back problems are really difficult. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to have it the rest of your life. I hate saying this to you, but be prepared.
Having said that though, you can certainly make things better. There are many things you can do. I don’t just mean treatment, but other things in your life. For example, be careful if you have to lift anything. Don’t bend your back. Instead bend your knees and let the knees take the bulk of the weight.
If you are sitting for long periods, try to get up every 15 minutes, walk about, then come back and sit. This helps relieve constant pressure on your back.MaxKeymasterTopics: 2
I think the first thing you need to do is to see your doctor. Get x-rays done. All back problems may not be the same. Get the right recommendation first. Sometimes, there could be a surgery involved, but this is rare. Mostly, it is therapy and exercise, but it should be tailored for you.MulanMemberTopics: 0
Have you tried getting massage therapy to fix your bad back? That really, really helped me a lot. I visited a naturopathic clinic called Barefoot Health, and they helped me fix my back problems after a couple of sessions. Now I go there once in a while just to make sure my body is in good shape (never want to experience those back problems again, haha!) Sometimes, it’s all about strengthening not just your back, but the surrounding areas too. This is what makes a difference. When you do this, your flexibility improves. Your range of motion improves. You will find that you not only feel better, but you begin to have less ‘bad’ days.

You can do your physiotherapy at home. However, make sure you know what to do and how often. In other words, go to a professional first and get a detailed program. Or you can always go to a rehab place. Then, you can do stuff at home. Get yourself a yoga mat. You can do exercises in the comfort of your home.
There are all kinds of stretches you can do. Most of it can be done lying down. The same thing for exercises. First, get yourself a nice comfortable mat. You can lay on your back, then raise one knee towards your chest. Then the other. Then pull both towards you. Always use your arms to hold your knee.
That’s just one example. Go to a rehab place and get advice. They will give you a diagram, which makes things easy to follow.
