Fun recipes for pizza ovens
-
I’m going to buy an outdoor pizza oven for my home. Besides cooking pizza (obviously), I know there are other uses but I haven’t done a lot of research on recipe possibilities. For all the chefs around here, what are some fun recipes you can think of for pizza ovens?
You’re gonna LOVE your pizza oven when you get it. As far as pizzas are concerned, you will never eat a more enjoyable pizza, I guarantee it.
That’s quite the glowing endorsement! Where did you buy your oven?
I got mine from Forno Venetzia and I absolutely love it. They helped me picking out the perfect one. I took photos of my place and showed it to them, so they helped me pick an oven that matches the dimensions needed.
You can cook veggies in your pizza oven. When you cook them in a pan, it tends to be greasy. When you cook them in a wood fired oven, it gives it a unique smoky flavour and it is not greasy. They taste great! Even your children will never be fussy when it comes to eating veggies.
I don’t have kids, but I can be pretty fussy myself when it comes to vegetables! So your idea sounds great!
I have always loved baking, so I cook my own bread inside my pizza oven. I know you can do this in a conventional oven, but believe me, this is different. Bread never tasted so good! Even some restaurants (and celebrities!) cook their burgers in a pizza oven.
Be careful because you can burn the bread. You need to fire up your wood for a couple of hours first. You will get the hang of it. Just find out how to cook the different food items in terms of pre-heating and stuff like that.
You can try cooking seafood in it too. You can roast whole pieces of fish on a wired rack. Try placing some prawns, shellfish, clams or mussels on a tray.
You should cook turkey and chicken! If word gets out, everyone will be coming to your place for dinner! Throw in the turkey and watch your normally well-behaved friends start to salivate in anticipation!
A word of advice regarding poultry: try cooking smaller-sized birds. Something four pounds or a little under would be perfect. This allows it to cook evenly. Sit back and enjoy the magic.
