What food goes with red wine? Recommendations needed!

    I find that bold reds go well with things that have a chewy texture, like red meats. A bold red kind of coats your palate. The meat and the wine have intense flavours, complementing each other really well.

    For roast chicken or turkey, pair it with a Merlot. Merlot also goes well with roast duck and certain casseroles.

    A Barbaresco pairs nicely with cold meats. For braised beef, try a Barolo. Both these wines are Italian. Try a Negroamaro for spicy sausage dishes or pasta bakes.

    At Christmas, a medium-bodied Pinot Noir will go nicely with roast turkey or roast lamb.
